courtyard replanning

Date

September 2009

Location

Tegucigalpa, Honduras

this project involved the urgent replanning of a back yard courtyard and green area after long-standing sanitary and drainage issues began to affect daily use of the space. the existing infrastructure was outdated and inefficient, making the area uncomfortable during heavy rain and limiting its potential as a social space.

the proposal focused on improving stormwater drainage, reorganizing circulation and access points, and redefining the courtyard as a functional and welcoming outdoor area. a small kiosk was proposed as a social focal point, aligned with existing trees and landscape elements. optional features such as a fountain were included to enhance the atmosphere without compromising functionality.

this project reflects an important part of our work: responding quickly to real problems, improving everyday spaces through practical design decisions, and finding solutions that balance technical needs with social use and landscape integration.
